Final Major Project
In rediscovering the mundane, my intention was to present ordinary, commonplace objects in a new light. I have chosen in particular, to depict activities which people undertook during lockdown. Using natural light has provided the images with an unsensational and classical aesthetic. My intention in depicting these activities, was to create work that would be relatable to a wide audience that would resonate with people’s experiences during lockdown. My work seeks to explore the hidden beauty in the mundane, allowing people to see the wonder in the everyday. I applied minimal editing to the images, as I wanted to capture the reality and the character of the objects. I aim to present these works large scale, to enable the audience to interact with the commonplace differently to the way they normally would.
